A visual inspection details the obvious and fine points of a chimney most often missed by the general home inspector. This service delivers a three-page typed report on most chimneys, detailing the existing condition of the chimney, code violations, fire hazards recommended repairs and safety tips. |

A video camera is put up in the chimney, most often through the throat, so that we can see the entire inner portion of the chimney. This is done from the living space with video and audio recorded. The consumer or agent are welcome to be present and it is suggested they are so that any questions can be easily answered and should anything be found it can be explained with full clarity. This service provides the kind of reliable information you need before making a decision regarding the extent of repairs and the overall safety of the chimney. |

Often cracks and voids in chimneys lead to chimney fires. Not from direct flame but from heat transfer. A smoke test will indicate areas of potential failure in the chimney. This is accomplished by using controlled pressure forcing smoke into the chimney while the fireplace and flue are sealed up. The end result will determine if smoke leaks out of the system indicating a potential fire hazard. This method of testing is not exact and could lead to false results. Smoke Testing is not recommended as the only form of inspection. Without a video scope the smoke test is not a conclusive inspection. |

Often clients are not comfortable with the results from other company inspections. We have been brought in to evaluate conflicting inspection reports, bids for repairs or to just consult on the method of construction for a new chimney. We provide consultation on rebuilding with masonry, metal high temp flues or prefabricated fireplaces, chimney maintenance, smoking and drafting problems, masonry tuck-pointing, flue relining and current safety standards. |
