hane has worked in the industry since 1989. Started as a chimney sweep and ultimately performed every method of repair and reconstruction for chimneys and fireplaces. He has inspected well over 8,000 chimneys and fireplaces to date.

During the last thirteen years he has trained and given seminars to fireplace technicians and home inspectors on the safety of fireplaces, damaged chimneys, earthquake inspections and industry ethics. Operating as a consultant on the inspection of chimneys and their repairs after the Northridge earthquake for contractors, homeowners and fireplace companies; Shane has built a reputation of integrity and professionalism. He has also provided expert opinion and legal support on chimney cases since 1995. In 1999, Certified Chimney Inspectors was featured as part of a ‘Consumer Alert’ on CBS prime time news regarding the safe condition of Southern California chimneys.

Shane is certified by Fireplace Investigation Research and Education Services as a Fireplace Inspector, Chimney Safety Institute of America as a certified Chimney Technician, certified as a Gas Hearth Appliance Technician by Copperfield Chimney Supply, Inc. and has completed a number of classes given by Dale W. Feb specializing in legal liability, fire hazard / risk protection, code, factory-built metal and concrete, masonry and retrofits.
